Tips for Finding the Right Cycling Bicycle

There are many people who decide to cycle as a way to get from one place to another. There are a lot of reasons to ride a bicycle that have nothing to do with your preferred method of getting places. Some people choose to cycle because they need the exercise. Some choose to cycle because they are in competitions with cycling. And there are others that simply want a way to bond with their family, so they take up cycling. Regardless of why you are taking up cycling, you are going to have to consider a variety of things when choosing the bicycle that is a perfect fit for you. It’s okay for fashion to affect the decision you make about your new bicycle. Favorite colors and styles show in our choices. When choosing your bike you shouldn't ignore them. Unless you are just buying a bike for the sheer look of it, style and fashion options shouldn't be the ultimate priorities. Check to see how your bicycle choices rate for both safety and comfort at the very beginning of your search. But once you have found the safest and most comfortable bicycles, there is no reason you shouldn’t narrow down your choice further by how the bike appeals to you visually.

If you intend to get a road bike then take 9" away from your total inseam. This is to account for the size of tires you will use on a road bike. City riding is done with thin tires, designed to work perfectly with the smooth concrete roads and sidewalks you find in a city. For a mountain bike you will need to take 12" away from your total inseam. This is because the tires of a mountain bike are different than those on a road bike. Mountain bike tires are thicker than road bike tires, designed for rocky terrain. You can always use a mountain bike for city cycling, although this is not how they are best used.

It is important that you allow adequate room between you and the crossbar. When selecting a bike make sure you move the seat up slightly, to around a few inches above the height of the crossbar. Your feet should still comfortably rest on the ground. Each type of bike will require differing clearance amounts. A good example is a touring bike, with these bikes you will only need around 1" difference. However for a mountain bike you will need 3" between the crossbar and yourself. Several different factors play into how you are going to choose the right bicycle. Do you want to ride your bicycle every day or do you see yourself only riding it once in a while? Which height is most comfortable for you? Are you a person who would rather your feet be flat on the ground when you are sitting or would you rather have a link little room between your feet and the ground? These are some of the things you need to consider when choosing your bike.
